The diverse, sunny coast of Spain is a popular destination for athletes and cyclists. Especially in spring, many active northern Europeans are drawn to our area because of the pleasantly mild temperatures. The very idea of escaping the cold winter and jogging or cycling among blossoming orange trees and olive plantations is appealing even to the couch potato. For runners, cyclists and mountain bikers, Spain’s coastal area has been declared the perfect training ground.
The vast variety of routes and surfaces, which can differ remarkably within a single kilometre, as well as the mild microclimate of the Costa Blanca, make this part of Spain the perfect training ground. The coastal promenades are developed in a bike-friendly way and you can move safely and easily for kilometres along the Mediterranean coast, whether on foot or by bike.
When we move a little away from the coast, we encounter breathtaking mountain ranges, with waterfalls, off-road tracks and opportunities for hiking, biking and climbing or even canyoning. Of course, the training is really fun when you can go back to your own house and relax afterwards.
La Nucia – the city of sport – has become increasingly well-known even beyond the borders of Spain.
For many years, the municipality has invested a lot of time, energy and resources in creating different training areas to practice many different sports.
There are football pitches with natural and artificial grass, beach football and volleyball courts, a tennis court, a skate park and much more. Many European sports clubs visit the facility to train or compete in their leagues during the year. If you enjoy sports yourself or if you would like your children to play more sports, La Nucia is the place to visit:
Do you want to take your children or friends to do something extraordinary? Take them to the adventure park “Tirolinas Go!” in La Nucia. Not far from the sports complex, in the Carrer de Guadalest, you can fly from tree to tree on various zip lines. Some of them are up to 300 meters long and others are double lines. A fun activity that is another way of doing sports in nature and that is completely free of any CO2 emissions. Do it with friends, family, kids or work colleagues.. it is definitely worth a shot!
